Fat grafting after liposuction to fill nasolabial folds and facial wrinkles
Can deep nasolabial folds be filled in?
Nasolabial folds are anatomical grooves extending from the upper outer sides of the nostrils to the corners of the mouth, formed by the interface of two groups of muscles moving in opposite directions. They become more noticeable around age 30 and become even more pronounced after age 35, affecting almost everyone and being a sign of aging.
Those with fuller faces tend to have less pronounced nasolabial folds, only showing during facial expressions like speaking and laughing. However, in those with thinner faces, they become two distinct lines. Previously, facial tightening surgery alone was insufficient to completely eliminate them. Using fat grafting to "fill" them from below yields better results. Fat grafting surgery can be performed in segments, preserving the lower segment of the nasolabial fold at the corners of the mouth and injecting only the upper segment, creating a natural "dimple" on each side of the mouth.
The procedure requires only 2-3 ml of fat, which, after processing, is injected into the nasolabial folds from the corners of the mouth or directly through the skin. With slight shaping, the desired effect is achieved. In the years to come, as you age, the nasolabial folds may deepen further. At that point, simply repeat the above process, and the effect can be maintained for several more years.
Can fine facial wrinkles be smoothed out?
It's common to encounter this situation: some people are distressed by the fine wrinkles that appear on their forehead and around their eyes when they smile or talk. Not treating them makes them look older, but undergoing a facelift is risky due to concerns about surgical scars. They are truly torn.
Using fat grafting, your own fat is used to fill in these fine wrinkles, smoothing them out. The duration of the effect is similar to that of a facelift, but without surgical scars or the stiff expression often associated with facelifts. Recovery time is also much shorter. If wrinkles reappear after a while, fat grafting can be repeated for even better results.
Can sunken upper eyelids be filled?
Sunken upper eyelids are caused by a reduction in the orbital fat within the upper eyelid. Genetic factors are the most common cause, while a less common cause is excessive fat removal during double eyelid surgery.
It manifests as a noticeable sunken upper eyelid, sometimes appearing as if there's an additional, thick double eyelid above the existing one, making the person look older and tired. Sometimes, it's accompanied by dark circles under the eyes, as if the person hasn't fully recovered from a serious illness.
Simply inject treated fat into the sunken area of the upper eyelid. There may be some swelling in the short term, but it will become smooth and natural after about a week. It's important to note that if the degree of sunkenness is unequal on both sides, the amount of fat injected should be adjusted accordingly. It's better to inject less fat in two separate sessions than to inject too much.
When injecting fat, the injection sites should be marked beforehand to prevent the fat from entering outside the double eyelid crease or being injected too deeply.
