How to choose egg and protein alternatives for weight loss if you have an egg allergy
Can people trying to lose weight eat goose eggs, duck eggs, or quail eggs instead of chicken eggs?
Eggs are primarily composed of fat and protein. Furthermore, the following conclusions can be drawn:
First, the protein content of all four types of eggs is roughly the same, around 13%.
Second, chicken eggs have the lowest fat content, while duck eggs have the highest.
Third, chicken eggs have the lowest average cholesterol content.
Therefore, with similar protein content, chicken eggs have the lowest fat and cholesterol content, making them low in calories and inexpensive, making them a top choice for weight loss. Quail eggs are also a reasonable choice. Duck and goose eggs, due to their high fat content, are not recommended for weight loss.
What if someone is allergic to eggs?
If you experience rashes, diarrhea, or other symptoms after eating eggs, you should be alert to the possibility of an egg allergy. Human allergens are incredibly diverse, and many people might not realize that eggs can be an allergen for some.
Research reports indicate that eggs may worsen eczema symptoms, especially in younger patients. Therefore, eczema sufferers should be cautious when using eggs.
If you are indeed allergic to eggs but want to lose weight, then quail eggs are your best choice. If you are allergic to all types of eggs, then you should remember this principle: the principle of substituting high-quality protein foods.
The closer the amino acid profile of a food's protein is to the body's needs, the easier it is for the body to absorb; we call this high-quality protein.
To date, only 20 amino acids have been identified as components of natural proteins. Among these 20 amino acids, leucine, isoleucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine are eight that the human body must obtain from food and cannot synthesize on its own (infants cannot synthesize histidine); these are called essential amino acids.
As long as these eight essential amino acids are ingested, the human body can maintain life and growth and development; otherwise, symptoms such as stunted growth, anemia, and dry, brittle hair may occur. These eight essential amino acids are so important that the quantity and variety of essential amino acids in food proteins have become a standard for measuring protein quality. Proteins containing a high variety and quantity of essential amino acids are considered to have high nutritional value and are thus called complete or high-quality proteins.
There are many types of high-quality proteins, which I summarize in six words: fish, shrimp, meat, eggs, dairy, and beans. Freshwater and saltwater fish, shrimp, poultry, livestock meat, eggs, dairy products, and soy products are all excellent sources of protein.
Many vegetarian followers have asked me how vegetarians lose weight. I tell them:
1. Unless there are special circumstances or religious beliefs, I generally don't recommend a vegetarian diet, as most vegetarians cannot maintain a balanced diet.
2. If you insist on a vegetarian diet, I suggest being an ovo-lacto vegetarian, meaning you don't eat animal meat, including meat, poultry, and fish (seafood), but you do eat eggs and dairy products. Eggs and dairy products are excellent sources of nutrition and are inexpensive.
3. If you insist on a vegan diet, you must eat plenty of soy products, as they are the only foods that can provide all the amino acids your body needs.
In conclusion, if you are indeed allergic to eggs, you can substitute them with various meats such as beef, chicken breast, fish, shrimp, soy products, or even milk. It is possible to substitute different high-quality protein foods.
