Liposuction for weight loss and fat grafting to correct limb asymmetry
Can asymmetry in limb thickness be corrected to make them the same thickness?
For some patients with trauma or sequelae of polio, the pain caused by limb asymmetry due to the trauma or sequelae of polio is no less severe than the pain caused by the disease itself. Because polio damage is staged, it often manifests as delayed or poor development of the bones or muscles of one side of the thigh and calf, resulting in asymmetry in limb thickness. In the past, there was indeed no way to correct such differences. Furthermore, accidents such as car crashes can also cause asymmetry in the left and right limbs, and emergency surgery after an accident is often insufficient to restore balance.
For such asymmetrical limbs, the following two methods can be used for correction: First, fat can be removed from the fat layer of the healthy limb to minimize the difference between the two sides, making it difficult to observe with the naked eye. Second, for areas where the affected limb is too thin or has obvious depressions, fat grafting surgery can be used to achieve the corrective purpose.
What is fat grafting surgery?
Fat grafting is a procedure that involves transplanting the patient's own fat from other areas to the desired location. There is a fundamental difference between the dermal fat grafting used in the past and the currently used particulate fat injection technique. The former has serious and unpredictable absorption risks and is rarely used now. The latter, however, has significant advantages such as remarkable effectiveness, no scarring, safety, speed, and no rejection reaction, which are unmatched by any prosthesis. Because fat is widely distributed in the body, there is a wide range of donor sites, resulting in minimal damage and fewer side effects. Fat can also be repeatedly injected into the same area.
Fat grafting surgery demands a high level of skill from the surgeon.
Firstly, the surgeon must have a thorough understanding of the fat survival rate at the donor site; be highly proficient in the fat processing and injection methods; be aware of the tissue tolerance at the injection site; and possess a high level of aesthetic appreciation. The surgeon's interpretation of beauty must be understood and accepted by the patient. Only through complete communication between the doctor and patient can the surgery be performed perfectly.
Evening Tomato Diet and Apple Diet
This article details the principles, four key principles, and recommended lycopene intake for the evening tomato diet. It also explains the principles of the apple diet and 3-day and 7-day meal plans to help readers achieve weight loss through simple dietary adjustments.
2026-04-22Women are more prone to weight gain than men: The truth about hormones, muscle, and metabolism.
This chapter delves into the physiological mechanisms by which women are more prone to weight gain than men: female hormones promote fat accumulation, and less muscle mass leads to lower calorie burning efficiency. Unbalanced dieting disrupts metabolism, making weight loss even more difficult. It also explains the "upper then lower" pattern of fat accumulation and reduction in women.
2026-04-23Obesity and Exercise: The Vicious Cycle of Insufficient Exercise and the Duration of Exercise for Weight Loss
This chapter points out that obese individuals often lack sufficient physical activity, creating a vicious cycle. Swedish research data demonstrates a negative correlation between physical activity and diabetes incidence. Finally, it provides approximate hours required to lose one kilogram of weight through different types of exercise.
