Weight loss investment return: a double boost of financial savings and lifestyle transformation

The clothes I bought at UNIQLO and Seiyu were surprisingly cheap. Buying eight jackets at UNIQLO was cheaper than altering one custom-made jacket. I can buy clothes as readily and decisively as before. This decisiveness is like gravity, only one-sixth of what it used to be, because I no longer have to go to distant stores. I can buy whatever I need anytime in stores within walking distance. This also prevents me from buying clothes haphazardly.

Now, the space above the washing machine alone can store all my clothes, leaving my old walk-in closet completely free.

In Tokyo, land is the most expensive commodity. Having one less room can save a lot on rent. Of course, simply not using a room won't save money, but for someone like me who used to rent apartments and storage rooms to store large collections of books, toys, models, etc., having an empty room is extremely useful.

The apartment I used to rent for storage cost 60,000 yen a month. If I had had one empty room back then, I could have saved 720,000 yen a year.

Furthermore, there's no need to store so many clothes anymore. I can buy some casual styles to mix and match; they're cheaper, and I can buy new ones whenever I want. Even if some fade or lose their shape after one wear, I can easily dispose of them. Many clothes can be thrown away after one season.

I used to hear that young people these days throw away their clothes after one season, and now I believe it. Of course, I used to buy ridiculously expensive T-shirts, wear them carefully, and send them to the dry cleaners the first few times, so I couldn't understand young people's thinking.

Naturally, I now go to the dry cleaners much less often, and my laundry bills have decreased significantly.

I now spend only a tenth of what I used to on clothes. Even though I wear cheaper clothes and have fewer pieces, people around me say, "Mr. Okada is getting more and more fashionable!"

My clothes used to be completely unfashionable and uninspired; they were just plus-size clothes. Now, I only care about looking clean and neat. Just because the sizes fit now makes me look presentable and gives off a clean and sharp impression.

I used to think that young people with limited funds could dress fashionably for 5,000 yen. Well, that's probably true.

The clothing sections in department stores are ten times larger than before, and the number of shops—no exaggeration—is a hundred times greater. With so many choices, I don't even know which shop or section to go to.

Fashion hotspots like Roppongi Hills and Central Tokyo, which used to be just places to eat, suddenly feel relevant now because there are so many more shops I want to visit and can go to. After losing weight, I began to see a completely different side of Tokyo.

It wasn't just the cost of food and clothes that decreased; even electricity bills were reduced, especially for air conditioning in the summer.
