Just writing this makes me nauseous, yet I actually lost 10 kilograms during that time.

Of course, I didn't exercise. I'd rather take a longer route than leave the escalator, never go out on rainy days, work on the computer or watch DVDs, order takeout from Chinese restaurants or pizza places when I was hungry, and take day naps when I was sleepy. That's how I lived this "decadent" life.

But why did I lose 10 kilograms?

The reason is probably that I unconsciously avoided behaviors that lead to obesity. This is very important, and I hope everyone pays attention.

The key to losing 10 kilograms isn't "just keeping records," but "unconsciously avoiding behaviors that lead to obesity." Obesity is also because we repeat behaviors that easily lead to weight gain every day.

Surprisingly, none of those who are obese have ever thought this way. When asked why they felt they were overweight, they typically gave the following answers:

"I gain weight even from drinking water; I'm prone to obesity."

"Because of work, I have many business dinners, making it difficult to maintain a balanced diet."

"I work at a desk and lack exercise."

"Too many social engagements; I often drink a lot of beer at night."

These are all completely wrong explanations. Let's examine them one by one.

"I gain weight even from drinking water; I'm prone to obesity."

This cannot be a valid reason for obesity. Simply drinking water cannot cause weight gain. Water retention only occurs when excessive salt intake is present.

"Because of work, I have many business dinners, making it difficult to maintain a balanced diet."

Many people believe that "eating out = obesity," but this is not the case. Overweight people intentionally choose restaurants that are prone to causing weight gain, such as fast food restaurants, barbecue restaurants, steakhouses, pork chop restaurants, Chinese restaurants, French restaurants, and Italian restaurants. In the past, I also ate barbecue twice a week.

When ordering, I would specifically choose dishes on the menu that are prone to causing weight gain.

Going to a sushi restaurant, I'd definitely order cod and tuna belly; at a soba restaurant, I'd order tempura rice; when eating sandwiches, it'd always be a pork cutlet sandwich; when eating steak, I'd eat beef sirloin; and when eating yakiniku (grilled meat), I'd always start with pork belly. The menu for overweight people is, ironically, the "obesity menu."

Before, standing in front of the convenience store shelf, I'd pick up my favorite food and check the calorie count. It was always the item with the highest calorie count on the entire shelf, and it was the same on other shelves—I was shocked myself.

"I do desk work and lack exercise."

It's not that doing desk work will make you obese. Depending on your job and activity level, consuming appropriate calories will prevent obesity.

Lack of exercise isn't a big problem either. Weight loss mainly depends on controlling your diet; exercise is just a supplementary factor. Doing some exercise is ideal, of course, but you can still lose weight even if you can't.
