Can thick upper arms be reduced?

The desire for upper arm liposuction isn't limited to older people; recently, more young people are also seeking it.

The upper arms are generally difficult to store fat, but once it does, it's very difficult to remove. This is especially true for people who are physically active; once they stop exercising, fat accumulates in the upper arms. No matter what methods you use to cleverly conceal your age, the upper arms are always a place that's hard to hide.

The upper arm is centered around the humerus, surrounded by muscles that drive upper limb movement. The anterior and lateral muscles are the most developed, while the medial and posterior muscles are relatively weak. Important nerves and blood vessels run through the medial muscles.

Fat in the upper arm tends to accumulate on the back side, and in obese individuals, this fat can extend all the way to the elbow joint. The procedure for upper arm liposuction involves making a 2mm incision inside the armpit and then suctioning out fat from the back of the upper arm and shoulder in layers, evenly (Figure 12). The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, with bandages applied for two days post-surgery, requiring only one dressing change. When you wear sleeveless tops or sundresses, your slender arms will definitely enhance your appearance.

Can liposuction be performed on large breasts?

Just like women with flat chests, women with overly large breasts often experience various inconveniences: they can't wear their favorite clothes, they can't participate in many outdoor activities, and some women even experience shoulder and back pain. Breasts are composed of mammary gland tissue and adipose tissue. Excessive size and sagging often occur after childbirth due to obesity or breastfeeding. To reduce this excessive burden, only surgery can completely solve the problem.

Liposuction is a surgical method that can reduce excess fat in and around the breasts, especially the upper and outer parts of both breasts, effectively reducing breast volume and weight. Because the liposuction cannula cannot enter the breast tissue, it has no impact on the mammary glands. This method of removing excess fat without leaving any scars is unmatched by other methods.

A small 2mm incision is made on both areolas. A fine liposuction cannula is used to evenly suction fat around the breast in a circular motion. Areas with noticeably excess fat are targeted for suction until the area is smooth and even. For excessively sagging breasts, some loose skin can be removed around the areola. The incision is made at the edge of the areola, and the surgical scar is barely noticeable after recovery. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and sutures are removed after 7 days.

How much can waist and abdominal circumference be reduced?

People almost always feel that weight gain begins with an increase in waist circumference. Women first notice the gradual protrusion of the lower abdomen, while men tend to gain weight in the upper abdomen first. Obesity in the waist and abdomen can make a person appear bloated and sluggish. Furthermore, an unhealthy waistline can worsen with ineffective weight loss methods, severely undermining your confidence in weight loss.

The abdominal wall consists of skin, subcutaneous fat, abdominal muscles, and peritoneum. The subcutaneous fat layer is the primary area for liposuction. This area lacks large blood vessels and important nerves, making the surgery very safe. However, care must be taken to avoid damaging the peritoneum during subcutaneous fat removal to prevent accidents, especially in patients with loose abdominal wall tissue.

The thickness of the subcutaneous fat in the abdomen is crucial for waist circumference reduction. Sometimes, a single surgery can reduce waist circumference by more than 20cm. Sometimes, we encounter men who don't have much subcutaneous fat but still have a large waist circumference, mainly due to excessive abdominal contents. Current liposuction techniques cannot reach inside the abdominal cavity, so this group is not suitable for liposuction. Some people who have undergone other surgeries often have surgical scars on their abdomen that are sunken into the abdominal wall, sometimes resembling a child's buttocks, with the suture scars on both sides looking like a menacing centipede. In such cases, liposuction can smooth out these scars, making them invisible when wearing thin, sheer clothing.

Liposuction of the waist and abdomen directly removes enlarged fat cells, thinning the local fat layer and reducing waist circumference (Figure 14). Because the fat cells are removed, the basis for rebound weight gain is eliminated, preventing further weight gain. 800-5000ml of fat can be removed from the waist and abdomen in one session. The effect is less noticeable when less than 800ml is removed, and recovery time is longer when more than 5000ml is removed.
