Visual boards and mental rehearsals: A journey of physical and mental healing that transforms dreams into reality.
Some foods contain natural "healing agents" that can make us feel better emotionally. These foods include: chicken, turkey, red meat, dairy products, nuts, seeds, bananas, halibut, shrimp, salmon, soft-shelled turtle, tuna, and shellfish. These foods contain tryptophan, which can increase serotonin, the mood-boosting hormone. Unsaturated fatty acids can improve brain function and help release depressive moods. Foods containing unsaturated fatty acids include: albacore tuna, salmon, trout, dragonfly, herring, and sardines.
Paying attention to your diet and other methods that aid weight loss are certainly beneficial. They help us become more mindful of our behavior, allowing us to learn to slow down and enjoy everything. These things work at the conscious level of the mind. But in reality, the subconscious mind occupies the majority of the brain, and it's also where our habits and emotions reside. These habits and emotions often overwhelm our desire to control or change our behavior. People might say that what you eat is most important, but actually, what you think is most important. Therefore, to truly change, you need to unlock the power of the subconscious. To better understand subconscious activity, we first need to understand how the brain works.
Perhaps we don't realize it, but it's actually our subconscious that programs our behavior, because our reactions to things are based on our past experiences. The reason our habits seem to control our behavior is that our subconscious reactions to certain things have been programmed into a fixed pattern. For example, we might have a habit of eating a certain food at a certain time of day. This habit is very difficult to change. We draw intuition and inspiration from our subconscious, while some believe these come from a spiritual dimension. People believe that when we are in a state of altered consciousness, we can acquire these abilities from other "spaces."
Being in altered states of consciousness is something that happens naturally and periodically. We enter these states during sleep, daydreaming, or when our bodies undergo biochemical changes. In fact, we constantly move in and out of these altered states every day. For example, have you ever driven home from work and then barely remembered driving at all? You might think, "I really don't remember anything about the drive," but even if your mind is drifting in and out of daydreams, you can still drive and react. The subconscious uses stories or images to identify an experience, and we can create positive changes in our lives by giving our brains a story related to it.
We can achieve this through guided imagery, which refers to using our imagination to accomplish a specific goal or release unresolved issues buried in the subconscious. Albert Einstein famously said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." It is imagination that gives us ideas and inspiration. While sleeping, we are in the subconscious realm of our brain, and dreams are part of our imagination. A dream is a metaphor or a story, a symbol of something else. We can achieve our dreams by creating a metaphor that relates to our goals. For example, if your goal is to reach your ideal weight, you can close your eyes and imagine yourself looking at a slimmer version of yourself in a mirror.
